How does LED light therapy work?
LED masks shine specific colours of light onto your skin. Each colour is absorbed at a different depth and helps your skin in a different way, from boosting collagen to calming breakouts. It’s gentle, painless and needs no downtime.

01
Light reaches the skin
Each colour of LED light reaches a different depth in the skin. It’s gentle: no heat, no UV and no downtime.
-
02
Skin cells respond
Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by the energy centres in your skin cells, helping them renew and support collagen. Blue light targets the bacteria behind breakouts.
-
03
Results build with regular use
Use for up to 15 minutes, 3–4 times a week. Most people notice a difference in 4–12 weeks, and regular use keeps the results going.
What the research shows
Published research on red and near-infrared LED light for skin.
- 36%fewer wrinkles (best result) after 4 weeks of red 633 nm and near-infrared 830 nm LED, twice a week.Lee et al. (2007), Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B. Randomised, double-blind trial, 76 adults.
- 19%increase in skin elasticity (best result) in the same trial, with more collagen and elastic fibres seen in skin samples.Lee et al. (2007), Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B.
- SafeA systematic review found red and near-infrared light therapy for skin rejuvenation showed no cancer risk.Glass (2023), Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Systematic review.
These studies tested red and near-infrared LED light in general, not Bondi Body masks specifically. Results are compared with the start of treatment and vary from person to person.
